Here we are, 2026. A brand new year to play with and a fresh opportunity to update our wardrobes with a sprinkling of newness and reviving old styles with the addition of a new top or belt. I love mixing the old with the new but also talking about the evergreen effect that denim has on our wardrobes. We are always looking for new - what is the latest shaped and styles - but really, we have seen most things as fashion is so cyclical and what suits our bodies, will for the most part, always suit our bodies.
Here is a little style guide for you to keep in the back of your mind while shopping for spring 2026.
The Barrel Leg - do you need it? Well, it is a great shape but it does need a very slimline and stylish shoe, otherwise it can be a very tricky shape. My favorite way to wear it is with a pointy mule and a great belt. Will I be wearing a barrel leg in 2026 like our Sissy? Yes, but it will be white which I feel the shape needs for spring, and I wouldn’t recommend going wider than our Sissy shape. It is just the right side of baggy and anything more can be a swamper.
Pin Stripes - now this is a stylish trend that I really love and it is something that can stay in your wardrobe indefinitely. Spots and stripes are perma-trends and always look super fresh. Look out for the Oui Oui set that we will be delivering to you early 2026, in a very fresh denim stripe in the most beautiful soft and comfortable fabric. Non stretch, medium weight, and with a wonderful drapey feel to it. This denim is quite limited and we will be offering it in the Dudette Jacket and the Prudence relaxed wide leg jeans that you have all loved. Look out for pinstriped shirts and tops too, to add a crisp and fresh edge to your summer style.
The Modern Skinny Jean - like it or not, the skinny jean is here to stay. It has been ever present in our wardrobes since the 50s and it isn’t going anywhere. The fear of it came about around 2006 when the low rise spray on jeans first appeared, and shortly thereafter the terrifying jegging. Dismiss these from your mind, there is many an incarnation of the very stylish skinny jean, and here is what to look for in 2026. Take a look at Astrid, a modern smart little jean with patch front pockets that looks amazing with a heel or flat. Keep the footwear sleek and chic and this great style will see you through many happy days. Phoebe is also coming back due to popular demand, a high waisted peg leg jean with a pretty vibe that is so flattering and easy to wear that you will wonder how you ever did without it. And another one to watch is Marilyn, a high waisted straight leg. Just what you have been looking for. I am already searching for more denims to sample it in because I know you will love it.
Neutrals - never underestimate the power of a neutral. It isn’t always taupe or beige, a neutral is also grey and khaki, and we are bringing neutral into your lives in 2026 with Dusty, our much loved relaxed jumpsuit. The washes are Stormy Weather, and In The Field, our best selling khaki fabric that is 50% cotton and 50% recycled cotton, a great piece for the circular fashion movement that we are seeing embraced more and more.
Grungy Washes - something that needs to be approached with caution is a grungy wash. Just a HINT of grunge. So light that you barely notice it. Think classic YSL. Emilia will be with us early 2026 in the wash Triggered. With just a touch of a grungy undertone in the wash - you’ll know what I’m talking about when you see it.
Interesting Fabrics - fresh new ways to wear denim is on the fashion world’s mind for 2026. The pinstripes as I have mentioned, and soft less traditional denim that feels a little dressier and thoughtful, such as our Jude in My Baby the very special Deep Olive denim that we have planned in limited quantities for 2026, and even the soft Shell Pink that is coming soon. Edgier takes is the Oil Slick coated denim in our Dotty dress and the smart and so stylish Smarter Than You denim that is exclusive to DONNA IDA. Specially developed and dyed denim will be one to watch.
