How To Build A Capsule Wardrobe Around Your Denim

2025 saw me travel a lot, and 2026 promised to be filled with just as much, so I have become great at capsule dressing. Do you find that you pack multiples of things when traveling and you end up in the same thing all the time, even pyjamas? Me too.

I have really found that the less I have, the more creative my outfits tend to get, and I have mastered the art of mixing and matching. This is greatly helped by my strong reliance on blue denim, black, navy, white and khaki. The true discovery of the capsule wardrobe has really hit home with me this year and it tends to through to my home life as well. I have even started to leave my makeup bag for travel packed, as it is the edit that I use every day so why not keep it in one case, ready to use at home or to pick up and leave at a moment’s notice.

Here are my capsule items that I lean on day in and day out, whether I am traveling or at home. My only rules are I tend to stick to two colours only:

Khaki with navy
Khaki with navy AND blue denim
Khaki with black
Khaki with white
Navy with black
White with navy
White with black, but generally with white on the bottom not the other way round as I feel like a waiter (and I have been one) or I have flashes of office life, many moons ago.

Then for accessories, black or brown bags in general, black or blue shoes. I love all black, and I love a tobacco shade in my bag and shoes. Classic, and always works.

Here are a few images of me to bring to life examples of how I dress, pretty much day in, day out.
