Jean Queen Donna Ida Thornton always says her hair is her crowning glory so we were excited when realhair, the iconic Chelsea-based salon, invited us down to take a look at their recent refurbishment. The new look features a beautiful extensive colour wall with an array of shades taking inspiration from Pantone colours, fashionable hues and contemporary styles to make sure you get the perfect match. Here, in a Guest Blog, realhair's Chanel Nott the first Assistant to Global Colour Ambassador for Schwarzkopf Lesley Lawson styles Jean Queen Donna Ida Thornton's hair and shares with us her hair care tips for healthy hair.
realhair's Chanel Notts: "Looking after your scalp is as important as looking after your hair, an unhealthy scalp will mean unhealthy hair. Ideally, you should be using scalp tonics or serums daily as they will restore your scalps natural oil levels."
"We are what we eat so biotin is a key ingredient that can be found in a vitamin form. It promotes healthy hair growth, prevents dryness and increases the elasticity of the hair which will prevent and minimize breakage."
"After you've made sure you're taking care of your scalp from the inside, it is time to look at the outside. Although it is not possible to fix damaged hair, we can look at halting any further damage. The first ingredient our hair needs and the first ingredient it looses from any mechanical or chemical process is Keratin which is a form of protein. Keratin shots once a week will feed your hair with anything it is naturally loosing on a day-to-day basis."
"When hair is at it's best quality and at maximum health it oozes luminosity. To enhance your natural shine, use a gloss enhancing product in-between your colour appointments or as a regular fix. Gloss products are chemical free and extremely conditioning. Your technician will choose one to suit your hair best depending on your desired result so that tired, dull and faded colour is a thing of the past! They also come in clear for those clients who have virgin hair free from dye."
