Here we interviewed Tina+Jo's founder Lisa Yoon on her fashion label and what inspires her.
DONNA IDA: How did you get started?
LISA YOON: I fell in love with colours which derive from mixing colors and using different techniques. They create such a unique piece of art.
DONNA IDA: Where is your head office?
LISA YOON: Los Angeles.
DONNA IDA: What inspires you?
LISA YOON: A lot of my inspirations come from nature. Or just about anything I see and associate with patterns that I can use for my line.
DONNA IDA: What is your business mantra?
LISA YOON: To be able to create clothing that every woman can wear and feel good about wearing them.
DONNA IDA: If you weren’t the owner of Tina & Jo what would you do?
LISA YOON: I would be a great chef, I love cooking and it actually tastes good!
DONNA IDA: Which is your favourite denim brand?
LISA YOON : Current/Elliott.
DONNA IDA: Where in the world are girls best dressed? What kind of style do you admire?
LISA YOON: To me, I like the way that girls in London dress. I like the clean, effortless, chic yet sophisticated look.
DONNA IDA: Where do you see the future of denim?
LISA YOON: I feel that conventional denim will be slow for a while, but if you use other fabrications that are on trend like indigo French terry, indigo Tencel you can have the denim look but taking it to the next level.
DONNA IDA: Which style of jeans is your favourite?
LISA YOON: I love boyfriend jeans.
DONNA IDA: Where is your hometown?
LISA YOON: Los Angeles.
DONNA IDA: Where is your favourite place to unwind?
LISA YOON: I do mountain hiking every weekend. It's so rewarding after a long hike, you get to exercise plus enjoy the nature which is where I get my inspirations from.
DONNA IDA: What’s your favourite food?
LISA YOON: I have too many, Italian, Japanese, Mexican......
DONNA IDA: Where do you like to shop?
LISA YOON: I love going to vintage shops and flower markets.
DONNA IDA: What advice would you give to a younger you?
LISA YOON: I would say to have passion about what you do. I miss having that when I was younger.
