Angela Radcliffe - Your Guide to Boyfriend Jeans

For the last few months I have been reminiscing over my teenage Levis 501s. Moving house, sorting out cupboards and flicking through old photo albums looking at the pictures made me remember that these jeans were my first real denim love affair.

They were slouchy (not too), faded (not too) and the boyfriend association gave these the jeans the air of being the coolest. But how to recreate?

Not easy, I thought.

Of course I dialled Claire at Donna Ida who informed me that she has had the same request from quite a few girls recently. So I ran to Donna Ida immediately for the 'try on'.

Just so you know, I actually loathe the process of trying on jeans. It's stressful for me, but the buzz of leaving the store with another good pair spurs me on.

Thankfully I can hand this problem over to the girls at Donna Ida and their talent at managing you into the correct style for your body shape. This combined with their breezy manner actually makes it fun!

It didn't take long and soon I was armed with my new look 501s. I couldn't believe it! Current/Elliott's Boy Genius style in Bayberry wash is the winning pair. The Matchstick style is also really good for those of you with a slighted shorter leg.

They look great with a rock tee, simple silk shirt, striped navy and white top, boyfriend blazer, and any kind of shoe really. Flat gladiators, ballet pumps, or ankle boots. Easy!

Here's my friend Isabelle looking cool in hers while we were on another shopping expedition to DI. Love it with the pointy kitten heel.

When I got home and put them on my husband Colin walked in and said "oh, you found some new 501s".

Job done!
