A Flare For Fashion

Denim Flares at Donna Ida

Thank God the flare, that most elegant of trouser shapes, hasn't fallen foul to fashion's 20 year rule. To wait till 2026 to rock a denim flare would have been a travesty.

In 2006 a new denim company called 18th Amendment launched onto the denim market with their killer style, the Colbert, leading the charge to the press. A high waisted wide leg it was a true flare that denim hadn't seen since the 70's. Every fashionista worth her salt owned a pair and if truth be told no one was quite ready to hang them up when the tide turned away from the flare.

Four years later and denim trends are now following catwalk so closely we are once again staring down the barrel of a summer with flair - or flare.

Thanks to Chloe's elegant high waisted wide legged trousers on the SS11 catwalks that signalled the arrival of the 70's trend it was only a matter of time before we started seeing denim flares cropping up in the pre-collections.

J Brand's Babe in Black and Navy twill and Paige's Roxley in Raw wash - both exclusive to Donna Ida - are the first styles to emerge.  Citizens of Humanity and Goldsign are not far behind with flattering on-trend styles.
