With the rain back in London I'm suddenly longing for the warmth of Greece again. Bobby Dazzler and I go once or twice a year to visit our friends Gerry and Ilia at their fantastic holiday apartments Anniska & Liakoto http://www.anniska.gr/home.html. They're located on mainland Greece in southern Peloponnese. It really is proper unspoiled Greece.
For anyone visiting, you must dip into some of my favourites. Takis Fish Taverna in Limeni which we go to by boat, Xai-Xou a late night hangout that makes the best crepes in the world, Vesuvius Taverna in Agios Nicholas which has a fantastic diving board into the sea which you can pop back and forth to between bites of Saganaki (fried cheese!!), the divine Orato, which is run by the most amazing couple who grow their own produce and will treat you like Kings and Queens and the Faragi Gorge Hotel in Exohori which has the most spectacular views across the Viros Gorge.
Twice now we've visited Nafplio on the way back to Athens. If you do go you must check out the Nafplio Palace Hotel which sits high above the town and is straight out of a James Bond movie, but for the best place to stay in the town I love the Ippoliti Hotel which is right by all the fantastic bars and restaurants.
