THE MELLOW DRAMA Hershey wears: Joie Robin blouse, Mother Denim The Mellow Drama flare "This outfit is 70s inspired. I love the printed red blouse by Joie. It’s casual but it is also quite smart so it’s versatile. It’s ideal worn with these Mother Denim The Mellow Drama flared jeans. I genuinely adore kick flares but only with heels. They can make legs appear much longer. This look wouldn’t be complete without my friendship bracelets that have been given to me by my good friends. I’m also wearing this chunky gold and leather bangle from Stephane Rolland. " SHOP HERSHEY'S STYLE
WHERE ARE YOU FROM? I was born in London. I grew up in Richmond Surrey and I now live in Kensington. Although I’m British I do feel connected to my Asian roots as I have family there and I like to travel there when I can.
MONOCHROME POLKA DOT
"I love this look. The polka dot jeans are from Paige. Spots are very much on trend and it’s nice to wear jeans that are a bit different. My shirt is from Equipment and I’ve worn it under this IRO monochrome jumper. Prominent collars are so stylish so I had to wear mine out and I’ve accessorized it with an eye-catching ruby clustered pendant that I bought in a market in Kerala in India."
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF - HOW DID YOU GET INTO FASHION?
Fashion is something that I’ve always been passionate about. I did an Anthropology degree and while I was studying I didn’t know which career I wanted to pursue. I wanted my job to be a lifestyle and not just 9 to 5, so I wanted to combine all the things I love to do and get paid for it. I always loved writing, reading, travel, design, art, getting dressed up and shopping. At 18 I thought the perfect job for me would be fashion journalism. I got into the industry because of internships at magazines. It was a hard industry to crack because it is so competitive but I stuck with it. I’ve worked for magazines such as Elle, W, Sunday Times Style, OK! and Star magazine. I’ve just launched my own women’s wear fashion collection called Sevilla by Hershey (www.sevillabyhershey.com). I’m selling at newlook.com and Asos marketplace. There is so much one can do in the fashion world and it helps to have genuine enthusiasm.
"This is my casual relaxed outfit. I’d wear this at home on the weekend or out for Sunday brunch. My top is from Tucker again. I like this shade of blue and the soft feminine floral trend is easy to wear. These blue jeans from Nobody are a great skinny fit. The denim is stretchy and I find it really compliments my curves. I usually don’t wear belts but this one from Royal Republiq really breaks down the blue tones."
WHERE DO YOU LIKE TO SHOP?
I love mixing high street clothes with vintage and unique designer pieces. Bold colours look good on my skin and I wear a lot of my own range because they are staple wardrobe items in bright colours. I love collaborations that designers do with the high street. Also sample sales are the best. I have a good eye for a bargain.
"I’m such a fan of J Brand Houlihan jeans. I have a few washes but the vintage tiger eye ones are possibly my favorite. I’ve teamed it with a cool silver smart shirt again from J Brand. This look wouldn’t be complete without this IRO tweed chic jacket. The shirt suits it perfectly."
WHAT MAKES A SHOPPING EXPERIENCE MEMORABLE?
An unexpected discovery like when you see something that you intuitively adore but you didn’t expect to find. I also like to haggle in markets or shops especially when I travel. It’s a great feeling when you find a one off piece and you manage to get a great price for it.
PRETTY IN PINK
"I’m like a moth to a flame when it comes to bold bright colours! This pink silk shirt from Tucker compliments these white skinny jeans from Mother. I love piling on bracelets especially when I’m opting for a casual jean outfit. It creates a bit of a boho style that I feel very comfortable with. I wanted to wear this with nude shoes as this neutral muted colour goes with most things. These peep toe platforms are from Nelly.com. They have a retro 70s style. Generally, it’s a good look for Summer."
WHAT IS YOUR BEST INDUSTRY ADVICE?
Be persistent and have genuine passion for what you do. Always be inspired with new ideas. I think work experience is key to understanding how the industry works. It’s good to try out several areas in the industry if you don’t know what you want to do yet. Also being in the right place at the right time can help, so sometimes things are down to luck.
