ROSE ROMANTIC
Fiona wears: J Brand 910 Skinny
"Somehow jeans, which were the staple of the working man, work really well with couture. Head to toe pomp is not for me and trousers give me the freedom to cover up on a hot day."
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I grew up in an idyllic New Zealand in the 70s with English Grandparents.
COLOUR CLASH
Fiona wears: Current/Elliott Stiletto Skinny
"I love the sweet Native American reference to these Current/Elliott cropped jeans. The colours are quite soft and I wanted to toughen them up so I added a Ferragamo silk blouse, Hermes scarf and these 60s glasses from a Goddard film: the question is does it work...I think so."
TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF - HOW DID YOU GET INTO DESIGNING JEWELLERY?
I started out as a gem trader for a Brazilian gem mine specialising in coloured tourmaline, the stones were beautiful and I was mesmerised: however they never paid me and in the end let me have the stones in lieu. From then on I was forced to make jewels with these wonderful stones, after a while friends wanted my jewels and so on resulting in me opening a store in Notting Hill. These days I work on private commissions alongside regular ranges including a unisex jewellery line that I sell from Spencer Hart in Mayfair.
ENGLISH SPRING
Fiona wears: Paige Kylie Crop
"These jeans are cute with an all over English rose print. The cut is good for a 50s turn-up and I added some Kermit the frog green, which is way more Spring in England than any pastel could ever be. Oh and I piled on the jewels mixing old and new...kitten heels really work with jeans."
WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION?
Ah life is always inspiring: I love to think about the client and how to make them feel confident and enable the wearer a different experience than mass produced jewellery.
HOW WOULD YOU ACCESSORISE AN OUTFIT?
Bag, Belt, Emerald...I love hats too as I have fine locks and it is flattering to shade the face at my tender age.
ALL BLACK
Fiona wears: Citizens of Humanity Avedon Skinny
"We never know when to stop with the black on black dressing. It makes you feel powerful and pumped up...like you are off to do the workout from hell. I accessorised these black skinnies (amazing fit) with a trucker cap; I look like Posh before the fashion makeover..."
WHO ARE YOUR STYLE ICONS (PAST AND PRESENT)?
I love strong women...even if they are handsome: not obvious beauties, so Paloma Picasso and Edith Sitwell, both passionate about jewels.
WHAT ARE YOU READING AT THE MOMENT? WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE BOOK?
I just put down John Steinbeck The Grapes of Wrath...I have never cried over a book like this...pure humanity.
WHITE ON WHITE
Fiona wears: J Brand Houlihan
"All white is fine by me, whether in Winter or with a relaxed shirt and combats. I feel confident striding out without any colour, you let the personality and jewels do the talking in this case."
WHAT IS YOUR BEST INDUSTRY ADVICE?
Stick to your knitting: fashion comes and goes so have conviction.
