We're right in the middle of buying season at the moment, so while the sun still shines during August I'm out and about buying for NEXT SS14 - perfect! I like looking at bright light things while the skies are blue and there's laughter in the air. On one of many frequent trips to Old Street I happened past the very new and uber cool Huckle the Barber. I LOVE their concept and the fit out.
Sadly it's for boys, but it didn't stop me appreciating it. They took the design inspiration from a butcher's shop and used white London underground tiles on the walls (kind of like Donna Ida in Chelsea no?!) and have a fantastic meat counter where all the products are displayed.
The owner Chris Ward is generous too, one of his walls is dedicated to local artists and the art changes every six weeks. Huckle the Barber also plays host to a comedy night bi-monthly on the 3rd Thursday of the month if comedy is your thing. The show is free to Huckle the Barber clients and friends so if you want to go, I suggest you nip in to have something trimmed.
Since beards are du rigueur these days (Bobby Dazzler has one, of course) they also give lessons on how to look after your beard. If you go please tell them they need to open a salon for ladies!
