How to do a Smokey Eye with Bobbi Brown

For AW13, the smokey eye is a fashion fabulous way to vamp up your look and should always be in your makeup armoury. My day got a lot hotter when this Bobbi Brown #SmokingHot kit hit my desk last week and I found out that I can create the perfect smokey eye in just 20 minutes.

Bobbi Brown makeup artist Justyna came up with seven simple steps to creating a perfect smokey eye using the new #SmokingHot Collection. Before you start, make sure you start with a base layer with base foundation and concealer to make sure your makeup stays in place for hours and hours.

Step One - Eyebrows. Think Cara Delevigne creating a strong defined eyebrow to perfectly frame your smokey eyes.

Step Two – Apply Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Eyeshadow Base and smudge it out with a brush to keep your smokey eye in place.

Step Three – Use Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick in a rich violet shade to build up the colour. If you make a mistake, don't panic - just keep on blending.

Step Four – I was looking for a really smokey eye, so Justyna added a swoop across the top eyelid using Bobbi Brown Smokey Quartz Sparkle.

Step Five – Pile on the eye liner to get that super smokey look.  Justyna used Black Amesthyst Kayal, Noir Kayal Eye Pencil and finishing off with Black Ink Long-Wear Gel Liner

Step Six – Next it’s mascara time. Justyna’s tip is to wriggle the wand at the base of the lash and then swoop it up. Creating long lashes that last.

Et Voilà! I like to keep it simple with a neutral gloss and perfect straight hair.

For a Halloween look which i recently created for my Huffington Post blog, I added a darker lip for a sexy evening look. I was initially sceptical but I now LOVE it!
