BEHIND THE SCENES
Ever wondered how we make our jeans and jumpsuits? Discover the artistry, skill and craftsmanship behind your favourite Donna Ida denim pieces.

THE PATTERN
All of our individual samples and patterns are hand cut in the sampling room.

THE CUTTING
Once the sample is perfect it’s time to get cutting. This is the fun bit where the material is cut in bulk. The fabric is carefully laid down layer by layer and then they cut around the pattern. Imagine making a mistake at this stage!

THE DONNA DIP
It is our Donna Dip that takes the most time to perfect. All of our coin pockets feature the Donna Dip. When Donna showed Jeff Rudes (who created J Brand) he sing songed ‘Donna’s done a little western poooocket’

CONSISTENCY IS KEY
The jeans are all hand constructed one by one which means we need a lot of templates. All of our craftspeople follow the same template as the style goes down the production line.

The pockets are all hand folded to align with the template and ironed into place before being pressed then stitched.
SUSTAINABLE APPROACH
We work with factories who are striving for a sustainable approach. For example, they now use less water in the wash process and a laser to create whiskers.

THE DETAILS: THE KNEES
Blowing out the knees is a meticulous and time-consuming process. That’s why the older it looks - the more expensive it is!

THE DETAILS: THE STARS
Details like the star pockets - that we have added to past designs - also increase the complexity of the development and production process.

LIVED IN LOOK
Ever wondered how we add the grinding around the pockets for a lived in look?

IDA
Our IDA branding is something that we are constantly working on and has to be recreated with every style and wash. Because it is a different denim and wash with each production run we have to re-sample till it’s right.

FRESH FROM THE FACTORY
We know you've been waiting patiently for the latest delivery of our Cassandra jumpsuit. It's taken many months of craftsmanship and artistry so we are delighted that she is finally back.
