Berlin is one of the coolest cities in the world right now – it’s the simmering centre of underground music, fashion and design, and its inhabitants embody this in their carefree, thrown together style. We made our way to the trendy Mauer Park market on a cold January Sunday to check out how the Berlin girls dress up their denims.
Tilda customized her Cheap Monday jeans by sewing on a silver chain down the side seams, and when dressed down with flat boots and a bright slouchy coat, we reckon this is a style totally worth stealing. Keep an eye out in store for the Current/Elliott Captain trouser, which has a great metal detail running up the side seams and will look just as good with heels and a camisole for night.
We love the idea of layering a summery denim jacket under a heavy winter topper, and Marta shows how to do it in an all-black ensemble with just the sleeves and collar of her jacket peeping through. Keep an eye our instore for the new crop of denim jackets from Current/Elliott and once summer’s here, throw off the heavy woolen layers.
Denim + slouchy layers + workman boots = perfect easy weekend chic, and Laura shows how it’s done with ease. Oversize cardigans are investment pieces you’ll be wearing yours, and this one by Designers Remix has just been knocked down to half price in the sale – get it while you can.
We thought Natalie was cute as a button in her pixie boots and short-sleeved camel coat. Grey and camel is a winning colour combination, and we suggest you try it out with a sleek pair of J Brand Houlihans in Vintage Taupe, and camel accessories to lift the look into SS11.
We couldn’t help but stop Verena – although she wasn’t in denim – as the jewel-encrusted collar on her outsize coat captured out magpie eyes. Add a bit of sparkle to your winter look with this super cute sweatshirt from Elizabeth and James in stores now.
