Denim CV: Westfield London Manager

We go behind the scenes with Donna Ida Westfield Manager, Jacki to get her top tips on her retail role, her everyday essentials and all things Donna Ida.

1. Name Jacki Browne

2. Job Role  - Store Manager Westfield

3. What does your current job involve?

I am boutique manager of Westfield, London. It’s a job role that is continually evolving - there never seems to be enough time in one day. As a store manager my main role is focused on building ongoing customer relationships and helping to motivate my team. I am so lucky to work with such beautiful and passionate girls, who really know their stuff. I learn so much every day from them.

4. What are your biggest achievements?

I think moving to London is my biggest achievement to date. I left a great life behind in Australia, a very comfortable life… but I knew there was something bigger out there for me. I just love meeting new people, living life to the full and seeing so much of this beautiful world. That’s what’s important to me and a pretty big achievement in my eyes.

5. When/what was your big break?

I think my big break came when I moved to London. It was a big decision, I came over here with not much behind me and I had to find my way in this big scary place you call London. I’m from a smaller town in Australia and finding a rewarding career in fashion was hard to come by. Moving over here and finding this amazing opportunity with Donna Ida was not only a career goal achieved but also a personal one.

6. What is the best part of the job?

As corny as this might sound… but the best part of working in retail is making someone feel confident. Seeing them walk out with a little bounce in their step because they just found the perfect pair of jeans. The perfect pair that makes them feel taller, slimmer, curvier… whatever it may be… the pair that just makes them feel sexy. That is a great feeling to give someone.

7. What is your past experience?

I have lived in London for about a year now. Previous to this I have had 7 years retail experience in Australia. I’ve worked as a visual merchandiser, store stylist as well as many managerial roles a long the way. Along with this, I have been involved in fashion photography and shooting national fashion campaigns.

8. What are your everyday essentials?

I’d probably have to say Wildfox! I am a sucker for their tees. They are just so easy to throw on with a nice pair of skinnies. I love to rock the 'casual chic’ look. I also especially love my Paige high-rise leggings at the moment! Those two are my staple daily essentials!

9. What is your best industry advice?

Work hard - play hard! And don’t take yourself too seriously. Live for fashion, be over the top glamorous but above all be humble.
