We go behind the scenes with Donna Ida Area Manager, Claire, to get the top tips on her role, her everyday essentials and all things Donna Ida.
1. Name - Claire MacGregor
2. Job Role - Area Manager
3. What does your current job involve?
I am responsible for all the girls in our four boutiques. I move around daily making sure the stores are running smoothly and our VIP customers are being taken care of.
4. What are your biggest achievements?
Being successful in the retail industry. I have worked my way up over the years and am proud of where I am. It was a big deal for me to move to London, I was leaving a job, friends and family. I am glad I did though – I have grown so much.
5. When/what was your big break?
When I started working for Donna Ida. I have learnt so much over the past 2 years and am excited to see what lies ahead!
6. What is the best part of the job?
I enjoy helping people and making them feel good about themselves. There is nothing better than a customer coming in disheartened by denim shopping and to leave with a big smile, having thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I also love being surrounded by fantastic girls and of course gorgeous denim and fashion!
7. What is your past experience?
I originally studied Graphic Design and worked for 5 years in the industry. I started to get bored with sitting at a desk all day and having no people interaction. I wanted to do something I was truly passionate about – FASHION! I took the plunge and have never looked back. I have 6 years retail experience originally starting in footwear. I still do the odd invite or business cards for friends to keep the creative juices flowing but I know fashion is the industry for me!
8. What are your everyday essentials?
At the moment I am in LOVE with my Current/Elliott leathers. They go with everything - all I have to do is throw on a top and they look great (I love crisp white tees from Splendid & Fresh Laundry) I am joined at the hip to my Alexander Wang handbag – can’t leave the house without it!
9. What is your best industry advice?
Work really hard. Dedication & commitment will get you to the top!
