How to Wear Boyfriend Jeans

Now that Summer is in the air, what better time is there to refresh our denim closet. I'm loving all the slouchy boyfriend jeans that are hitting the stores and being worn by celebrities across the globe.  Kate Moss looked great the other day in her blue Current/Elliott's worn with heels and a sharp blazer. The hip girls of LA are strolling Melrose favouring ripped boyfriends like the J Brand Aidan, worn with crop tops, vests and heels. Even wearing them on Venice beach with a bikini top and trucker cap.

One of my favourite boyfriends are the new J Brand Jake. It comes in Eternal blue denim but I love the fresh Pure White. White jeans can be hard to wear but I find them so relaxed and uncontrived. They look great teamed with a slogan t shirt and a slide, surf style with a skater shoe, or equally fab with a strappy high sandal and sexy top.  I love that they can be rolled to create a cuff, turned up to just above the ankle, such a flattering length on nearly everyone, and they always keep their shape. Frame Denim have the Le Garçon skinny boyfriend which looks fabulous in denim. Layer with one of this seasons fabulous selection of leather jackets. R13, one of my favourite denim brands this season, have the cool Skinny Boy. Slightly faded graphite gives it an edgy beatnik vibe. They look fabulous styled with a brogue or a little studded pointed kitten heel from Saint Laurent.

Alternatively, R13 have an ultra hip black Cowboy Jumpsuit. You can give it a touch of Rihanna or Rita Ora and team it with a fierce ankle boot. I've found adding this cut and shape of denim into the wardrobe invaluable. It helps you become creative and inventive with tops and jackets you have become bored of. For example, I have enjoyed wearing belts again as the jeans are loose and low slung on the hips. My personal favourite way to wear all my boyfriend jeans is rolled up with a heel and a little cropped jacket. Whether it's a fitted leather, a classic Chanel, military style khaki, or a short tomboy bomber, every option works. That there are now alternatives to blue makes it fun. Why not try the J Brand Aoki Boyfriend in Terrace grey and white stripes?  They give a nautical feel for Summer, and with the stripes running vertically, are incredibly flattering and leg lengthening. I was also discussing Boyfriend Jeans with a friend of mine in New York the other day and we got talking about the super oversized boyfriends that all the risk takers are wearing. I am going to try this look for sure, I love it!
