Ida's Story on Vogue.co.uk

Vogue.co.uk talk about Donna Ida Thornton before her upcoming interview with Dolly Jones for The Industry event.

DENIM entrepreneur Donna Ida is known for her customer-focused approach to business and for beating the retail downturn to grow her business to four boutiques and a thriving online store since 2006 - but how has she done it? VOGUE.COM editor Dolly Jones will ask that question, and many more, when she interviews Ida for The Industry's quarterly Network & Expert meeting on October 26.

"I've been a fan of Donna Ida's since she opened her first store in 2006 - her enthusiasm and dedication to her clients is impressive, both in store and online," Jones said. "It's going to be interesting to chat to her about both platforms and how she handles each separately. She's been a huge supporter of VOGUE.COM since we've known each other, taking on our plans for 2010's Fashion's Night In and this year's first ever Online Fashion Week with inspiring energy - so I'm looking forward to finding out how she does it all."

Ida opened her first shop in 2006 on Draycott Avenue in Chelsea and in 2008 launched her services online at www.donnaida.com, including her famed Denim Clinic. A store in Westfield's Luxury Village followed, before Ida open further stores on Belgravia's Elizabeth Street and then in Guildford, Surrey, earlier this year.

"Donna is the embodiment of a fashion business entrepreneur," Courtney Blackman, managing director of The Industry, added. "In five years she has built up the UK's, if not the world's, most renowned denim empire. If anyone can map out a retail expansion plan for our members, it's Donna Ida."
