We were lucky to catch up with Claire Breslin, MD of Heist Studios. It was lovely to hear more about Heist, to chat highlights, challenges, and exciting future projects!
Pictured: Claire Breslin, MD of Heist Studios
Claire Breslin: Heist was born out of a desire to disrupt the tights and foundationwear market; for years women had no choice but to wear restrictive and uncomfortable tights and shapewear. Through innovative technology we have created tights that don't dig, sag, or roll, and are truly a pleasure to wear. We work with specialist Italian factories to produce high quality products that are everyday essentials and the foundation of every wardrobe. We are a fashion brand so colour, texture and print are also important to us and our customers. I love how the brand disrupted the market and offers our community a product that they can rely on, whilst remaining stylish and feeling amazing.
Donna Ida: Can you share some highlights and/or challenges that you have faced, since becoming MD of Heist?
Claire Breslin: A recent highlight has been working on the evolution of our collections. We will launch a bodywear capsule of essential bodysuits later this year, and I love these pieces. They are supportive and fit amazingly well on all body shapes. Versatility has been key in designing this collection, and every piece can be styled for day or night. I have also enjoyed building our team. I work with talented and dedicated experts whose enthusiasm and passion for the brand drives me every day.
Any business leader faces challenges, and in the Direct to Consumer space, adapting this fast changing landscape requires flexibility, and a dynamic approach - our customers love new products and we try to react to customer feedback as quickly as we can. Every day is different, but always exciting, and I'm lucky to have an amazing team. We enjoy solving each problem together.

Donna Ida: Do you have a favourite Heist garment or collection, and why?
Claire Breslin: Currently I'm obsessed with our red 35 denier tights; so many influencers and celebrities are wearing them and they make a real statement. They're nearly sold out! I have also been living in our Contour Leggings which are super comfortable, but also give you an extra flattering fit. I love these with oversized cashmere sweaters and a boy fit t-shirt with a blazer when they weather warms up.
Donna Ida: Can you share your vision for the brand, going forwards, and what's next for Heist?
Claire Breslin: We have so many exciting plans for our tights collections. Offering solutions-based products is in Heist's DNA, and we're working on newness from heat generation, to anti-cellulite properties. We are currently working with specialist manufacturers to produce market leading products which our customers will love. I'm excited about our Bodywear collection, and building the collection to be the ultimate in foundation pieces for any wardrobe. We are also launching in China this year and in a number of US department stores as we have many loyal US customers, so that's pretty exciting!
Donna Ida: What makes Heist and Donna Ida a dream brand duo?
Claire Breslin: I have always been a fan of Donna Ida and your commitment to designing denim that shapes and flatters the body, whilst putting comfort at the heart of the product, which is also our ethos at Heist. We both create products that empower and make you feel good, for all body shapes. I have a large denim collection myself and, like tights, they are the foundation of a great wardrobe.

To mark International Women's Day, we were lucky to have a chat with Annie Pollet, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Iris. We hope you enjoy our interview with Annie, below.
Annie wears Minnie in Working Girl & Isabel Marant Etoile Top, from Iris
Iris started when my twins were three years old. Previous to becoming a mum, I'd had a busy job in fashion, but wasn't sure how I would juggle the travelling and long stints away from home with the demands of looking after small children. I had recently moved into what was then the still undiscovered area of Queen's Park, which was quite under the radar. With my friend Sarah, we came up with the idea of opening a sweet, multi-brand boutique in the area - I still remember how a few of the locals were quite cross as they couldn't believe we were opening a store selling dresses when they still didn't have a good butcher, fishmonger or deli in the area... but we proved them wrong as we soon became established and part of the beating heart of the Queens Park community.
2. Can you take us through a 'typical' day as Creative Director of Iris?
It's a cliché but no two days are the same. As Creative Director my reach is fairly wide over quite a few aspects of the business: from the buying of our brands, to the development of our own brand collection, to our marketing strategy and visual marketing objectives - you pretty much have to give your view on everything from a creative perspective and sometimes my head is swirling. I love the fact I'm often on the move and get to travel to the London villages of our stores - I like seeing how much London can change from one village to another and how women's needs and shopping habits can vary, it's fascinating! I also travel to Paris for buying appointments (we stock quite a few French brands) which is fun too - I love seeing the newness and getting inspiration from the brands we buy, or to have a quick pit stop (if we are lucky) at Merci. I feel lucky as Creative Director of Iris. Though it is a fairly complicated business spanning retail, digital, production and even wholesale, there is always so much to learn and continually be inspired by, though there are never enough hours in the day!
3. Can you you tell us about your own brand, by Iris?
The label by Iris grew organically from what started as purely a multi-brand business. We love the brands we buy, but there was always something that we felt our customers needed that we couldn't always provide, and it seemed logical to start providing this ourselves. From our years as a multi-brand boutique, we had a unique insight into what sold well, what women were looking for, and who the customer was. We started this collection with literally a few linen jersey t-shirts and it has evolved to now account for 50% of what we sell in our Iris stores - we are so proud of this achievement and know there's still so much potential for growth - it really is an exciting journey.
4. What makes a partnership between Iris and Donna Ida special?
We have sold a lot of denim brands over the years but Donna Ida has been the hugest success at Iris and we have been bowled over by the demand for the brand in our stores. Famed for its incredible fit, you can really see that so much diligent work and attention to what the customers ask for, has gone into this brand. Maybe because like us, Donna's background was in retail, she has succeeded in creating a denim brand that is on trend yet not too off-puttingly "fashionista" for real women. They can wear and feel put together, feminine, and on top of their game, as they run around doing all the million things women have to do in their daily lives. Donna Ida is also super friendly and helpful as a company, which has made working with them a pleasure, and we are delighted that it looks like this partnership will grow - we are so happy to be stocking Donna Ida at Iris.
5. What does the next chapter hold for Iris?
I think we'll continue to expand all of our channels at Iris. We want to grow and improve on our digital platform, and are also open to opening new stores - the big push is for the growth of our own brand collection by Iris, but we still love and will continue to buy the amazing brands like Donna Ida, as customers really love the mix between the two and this business model is working really well for us.
We wish you all a wonderful International Women's Day, and hope to see you on Friday 8th March at Iris Battersea for our Donna Ida x Iris Pop Up.

Anna Mason and Donna Ida are both wearing Anna Mason London
Christmas at Donna's home Langdon Court, has arrived, thanks to Anna Mason. Anna has instilled Langdon with her fabulous high-fashion magic: with stunning decorations and two exquisitely decorated Christmas trees. Langdon is looking sumptuously and stylishly festive!
The showpiece of Anna Mason at Landon is the Christmas tree in the Staircase Hall. The tree is adorned with pieces of an original Langdon chandelier (which Anna cleverly re-purposed into crystal decorations), eye-catching offcuts from Anna's fashion collections and statement calico bows and roses painted in 'Mason Pink' by Edward Bulmer. Alongside, is stylish gold bouclé and printed silk (including a Fil Coupé Palmier print - maybe a vintage Langdon fabric).
Anna Mason's Chelsea atelier gifted Langdon the big, statement bow that hangs over the doorway in the Entrance Hall. Meanwhile, the Drawing Room is home to the second Christmas tree, and is decorated with more re-purposed chandelier pieces, roses and fabric.
Our classic Donna Ida 'I've Got My Eye On You' candle has a sophisticated, sexy scent and would make a gorgeous gift.
For a limited edition, exclusive gift, look no further than our Donna Ida x Trish McEvoy make up kits, skincare and stunning accessories. Our newest collaboration kit is Kit 11, the Donna Ida x Trish McEvoy Deluxe Refillable Compact.
We would love to be gifted our dreamy Puff Tee. Effortlessly chic, flattering and timeless, this perfect for pairing with your favourite Donna Ida jeans. Why not choose one for you, and one for a friend?
For the ultimate Christmas gift, one of our statement jumpsuits would make the perfect present. Not to mention party and Christmas day outfits for you too. Find our Jumpsuit collection here.
Finally, our Donna Ida Gift Card is a great way to treat someone special. As always, contact one of our stylists if we can help with any questions, or size/fit advice.
]]>Rain or shine, we love wearing Dolly in Fawcett Blue. Our iconic zip-up Flight Suit, Dolly has modern bracelet length sleeves and a relaxed slim cut leg. Effortlessly chic and immensely comfortable, Dolly will have you ready to go in minutes! In our classic, super-soft Fawcett Blue denim, Dolly looks and feels amazing, all year round.
Featuring flight zips with Donna Ida signature pullers, faux breast pockets and functioning zipped side and back pockets, Dolly is the jumpsuit-style staple that's perfect for those on the go. Team with boots for a chic wintry look, adding layers and a body underneath to keep out the cold. Amp up Dolly for evenings out, adding statement jewellery, a faux fur gilet and heels.
It's always a good day for Dolly! Do share your Dolly pics with us on Instagram and contact us with any size/fit questions.

DONNA IDA: Could you take us back to the beginning of TROY and tell us how the brand was born?
ROSIE: It all started with my sister and I discussing the lack of quality outerwear for women as we strolled through fields in Norfolk, and from there we set about designing stylish solutions to this problem.
DONNA IDA: You have created a uniquely British brand with timeless pieces that are loved worldwide. Can you tell us more about how the brand’s British identity is central to TROY, and to how you run the business?
ROSIE: Lucia and I draw inspiration from our love of the British countryside and benefit from the rich heritage of British clothing production and specialist craftsmanship that exists today. We love delving into the archives and teaming vintage shapes with technical finishes, ensuring every piece is uniquely British in look and feel but also carries you into future seasons. Our headquarters are in Norfolk and from here we deliver our designs around the world.
DONNA IDA: Can you share some of the highlights and/or challenges from running your own business, and a family business at that?
ROSIE: Our first collection was a wonderful moment, the day the website launched and the many wonderful design collaborations and moments in the press. The whole family is involved to a lesser or greater degree, as advisors, fit models and moral support!
~
DONNA IDA: Who is the TROY customer, or TROY TRIBE?
ROSIE: Our wonderful clients look for lasting styles, beautifully made to stand the test of time. Lucia and I design for our own wardrobes and we like to be out in the fresh air and exploring the world. Our designs are thoughtfully put together to allow for effortless style in any environment.
DONNA IDA: Do you have a favourite item of Troy clothing, and why?
ROSIE: Our classic Wax Parka is my go-to waterproof coat... and the camo option hides any number of muddy paw prints.
~
DONNA IDA: How important is sustainability to TROY and do you have any advice for businesses aiming to become more sustainable?
ROSIE: We strive for sustainable practices in all areas of our business, from packaging to controlling the volumes in our production runs. Limiting waste and selecting our raw materials carefully is key, but above all it is making quality clothes that do not need to be replaced.
DONNA IDA: You design for women, men, and children. What’s next for TROY?
ROSIE: We are looking to continue to develop these categories, as well as to expand overseas to keep pace with our globe trotting clients!
~
DONNA IDA: Did you receive any helpful advice when you were starting out, and is there any you would share for someone in the same position?
ROSIE: Business is built on relationships, and we know how important it is to nurture those with our suppliers and artisans, as much as with our clients and TROY Tribe. And a rule we put in place fairly early on... there is only room for good news after 7pm! Any challenges are best tackled in the morning, and your team (and family) will thank you for it!
~
