Jeans for Genes

Jeans for Genes is the national children’s charity which aims to change the world for children and families affected by genetic disorders.  This is a cause close to our hearts and Donna, is the charity’s patron. Best known for their annual fundraising event, Jeans for Genes Day, when thousands of people across the country make a donation to wear their jeans to work or school.  Wearing ‘jeans’ is a great reminder of the ‘genes’ that you’re raising money for and where better to get your jeans than Donna Ida.

On Sunday 11th September 2011, Team Donna Ida will be running the adidas Women’s 5k Challenge to raise £50,000 for Jeans for Genes. To sponsor the team, please visit the online fundraising page http://www.justgiving.com/TeamDonnaIda where you can donate safely and securely.

Donna said ‘I am so proud to be a patron for Jeans for Genes, it’s so important to make more and more people aware of the fantastic work that they do.  This year, I’m hoping to raise more money than ever, and am teaming up with friends, colleagues, celebrities and journalists to run the adidas Women’s 5k Women’s Challenge as Team Donna Ida. We’re already having lots of fun training, and we’re promising goody bags plus cupcakes and cocktails after the race as an incentive to raise as much money as possible and smash our £50,000 target’

Stay in touch with the team, or take part in the race by following on Facebook.com/donnaida or Twitter.com/donnaida or Twitter.com/donnaidadenim

The money raised by Jeans for Genes helps to fund the support and care services which families need now (such as equipment, respite, advocacy, specialist nursing), and research which could change their lives in the future.  There are over 4,000 identified conditions which affect around 1 in 33 children born in the UK every year.  Some genetic disorders can be managed with the right care and medication, but many have no treatment or cure, yet.
