The Troy Boy is a slouchy skinny; worn low on the hips and belted. This style will give you the feeling of wearing a boyfriend jean but at the same time you will have a much more feminine shape. It comes in two great Summer washes; I particularly like the Santa Cruz wash, they are so easy to style. Team with a L’Agence Blouse, Smythe blazer or a Wildfox tee.

During World War 2 women embraced jeans in a more masculine way, as denim was easy to source and a hardwearing fabric. Here is Joanna from Donna Ida in Westfield London wearing the Nobody High Boy in Ravage with the Local Kate Blouse in Haze.

What are you wearing?

I’m wearing my favourite T-shirt from a Jean-Michel Basquiat show at the 
Serpentine Gallery a few years ago, Jil Sander jacket, Johnbull jeans from Japan and some scruffy Vans.

Describe your style.

My friend and I joke about this. We describe our style as ‘post skate’. This will be the demographic of many men my age who used to be skateboarders. It’s the difficult period when you’re too old to actually skate 
but still like the style. Tricky.

How has your style evolved?

My trousers have got skinnier and they actually sit on my hips and not halfway down my backside. Rucksacks have evolved into man bags and the beard is respectably trimmed, unfortunately.

Any style mistakes?

I did have a haircut a while ago that turned into a terrifying bob that resembled Doris Day. I don’t want to talk about it.

How long does it take for you to get ready?

I’m up and out in half an hour. It’s usually dark, so most of my style choices are based on touch and feel. I only find out if it works when I’m on the Tube.

What inspires you style-wise?

I’m constantly torn between wanting to dress like an early 1990s skate punk 
and an edgy London fashion designer. I guess I sit in the middle most of the time.

Who inspires you personally?

My girlfriend. She’s always done her own thing and never conformed to much. She also navigates me through this post-skate minefield..

Do your friends dress the same as you?

I make them all wear Simeon Farrar clothes, so yes. I even have their babies dressed in Simeon Farrar.

Is there anything you’d like to change about your life?

Work less, more holidays, more suntans, more photoshoots, more hair and make-up.

How does what you wear relate to how you live?

Most of what I wear is covered in paint; it always has been and hopefully always will be.

Where and how do you shop?

It sounds pretentious but I seem to shop more when I’m in Japan. Everything fits me there. I rarely shop and, when I do, it’s like a Special Forces smash-and-grab mission – get in and out with as few casualties as possible.

What is your favourite piece of clothing?

A belt with two lions heads on it from Sam Ubhi London.

Favourite designers?

I don’t really have any, I don’t pay much attention. Is that bad?

Is there anything you’d like to own but can’t afford?

I’d love a painting by an artist called Barry McGee. I’ve followed him for years and will one day own some of his work.

Tell us a secret about yourself.

I can rap Vanilla Ice’s hit song, Ice Ice Baby, word for word.

Hey everyone! A few weeks ago I went on holiday to see LA and stayed in Indio for the second weekend of Coachella music festival. I had an amazing time and am back with exciting news and photos to share.

It has been a long time since my last review and I missed Denimology! Today I am going to tell you about my experience with the new style from J Brand. The Nikko skinny is a cotton-stretch jean featuring sateen colour block panels at front waist and inseam. It’s a slim-fit design with two front and two back exposed zipper pockets. The fabric feels very soft with a slight stretch and has 98% of Cotton and 2% of Lycra. The Nikko comes in three different colours, which are: cream Empress, Bright Royal blue and Black Widow.

The best thing about these jeans is that they make your legs look slimmer thanks to the dark stripes inside the seam. The clever design sculpts a slim silhouette while speaking to the colour block trend. Even though light colour jeans can be usually quite tricky, the black panels are there to make you look tall and slim. I would say the Nikko runs true to size because 26 that I was reviewing felt too loose on me so I would definitely go a size down for my usual 25. Leg opening measures 10 inches and leg length is 29 inches. The jeans have a mid-waist where the front rise is 8 inches and the back rise measures to 12.5 inches. For me this was a perfect mid-waist and I felt really comfortable wearing it.

As to the styling of the jeans I have to say there was a moment when I wasn’t sure what to pair them with. After trying them on with different tops I realised that the jeans can be easily teamed with a very simple as well as a more interesting top or a blouse. Also, I think they can be worn with flats as well as high heels because they the Nikko will always make your legs look nice.
