Who knew that jeans could raise money for charity? Yes it is true! The charity in question is Jeans for Genes, an inspirational charity who raise much needed cash for children with genetic disorders which I've been working with for ten years since I opened DONNA IDA as one of their patrons.
I've completed a range of challenges to help, I've led a team of 130 women in a 5k run around Hyde Park (with Donna Air below), I've trekked 23 miles and I've cycled 65 miles from London to Brighton (that one hurt) and this year I'm planning a Denim Drive which a bit easier on the body.
For 2016, from 1st to 31st May 2016, I'm inviting all DONNA IDA shoppers to donate your old jeans to this amazing charity. All you have to do is bring in your old jeans and drop them off in DONNA IDA at Belgravia or Chelsea for the Denim Drive and in return we'll give you a £20 voucher towards a new pair of jeans.
Your old pair will be donated to Newlife; a charity that recycles clothes to fund equipment for disabled children. Ten of the best jeans will be given to fashion design students to customise each pair which will then be sold in Donna Ida in Chelsea with final pairs being auctioned off for charity on the official Jeans for Genes Day.
Make sure you sign up to Jeans for Genes Day (just like model Charlotte De Carle pictured above) which is on 23rd September this year and get all your family, co-workers and friends to pay £1 for the day to wear denim! If you can't make it to a boutique but want to take part, you are welcome to post your old jeans back to DONNA IDA, DENIM DRIVE, 40 Elizabeth Street, London SW1W 9NZ and include your name, email and postal address so we can send out your voucher.
