Marie Claire have planned an indepth Denim special for their November issue and of course they have asked the Denim expert Donna Ida for her expertise.

The feature is focused on a stylish lady who doesn’t enjoy wearing Denim, but we soon change that.

Through film and photography Donna gives her best tips on what styles to wear for each body shape and what to avoid.

Featuring all your favourite designer denim brands.

She also gets the reluctant model into various styles to show just how to rock that denim look!

Donna dresses Lilly Russo – Grazia Fashion Assistant in the ever popular Nobody Boy Slider jeans. Very on-trend is the new carrot shape – jeans are worn low-slung, boyfriend style around the waist and thighs then tightening to a skinny leg on the calf and ankle.

Grazia 118: Donna Ida answers your style questions

 

Check out the latest video installment from our denim expert Donna as she styles Grazia’s Fashion Assistant Lily Russo and Beauty Editor Lauren Murdoch Smith in some keys pieces from Nobody Denim and Current/Elliott.

In Part 1 Donna dresses Lily in  Nobody Denim’s High-Waisted Cult Straight leg – a sleek sophisticated shape this high-rise skims over the hips and gives a very long lean look. In very dark indigo it is super flattering. She puts Lauren in the ultra popular Current/Elliott 1957 Boyfriend jeans, a super-soft boyfriend jean in a brushed fine cotton. Perfect for summer styling in this light shade of blue.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Captain Trousers

Film star and all round style icon Gwyneth Paltrow is papped wearing Current/Elliot Captain Trousers in khaki green. The cropped chinos are made of light brushed cotton that will float over the legs and can be rolled for a more casual look. We love how Gwyneth has paired them with a classic heel and jacket combo.

Donna Ida have chosen the Tobacco destroy wash in this cut, which makes a nice alternative to popular army green, and adds a touch of sophistication too.

For the more casual ‘beach bum’ look you could also try Current/Elliot’s 1957 Boyfriend crops in Sun Shadow (blue) wash and team with a white tank and some old school trainers.

How to wear white jeans

Donna Ida gives Fashion Confidential all the top tips on how to buy and wear white jeans. Donna’s top picks include Genetic Denim’s The Shane as they have faux front pockets. Front pockets can often look bad on white jeans as you often end up seeing the outline and they can bunch, we suggest you go with The Shane as the problem has been solved for you, otherwise bring your white jeans into Donna Ida and we will take the pockets out for you.  MiH Jeans’ Oslo is also another favourite, the Oslo has a slightly higher waist featuring jet front pockets. The leg is a slim cigarette which looks amazing with heels or flats but is lean enough to tuck into boots. To style your white jeans Donna recommends a Tucker Smock Blouse - available in a variety of gorgeous printed silks you are guaranteed to find one that offsets your colouring and your jeans perfectly. Anna Sui does great paisley silks that look great when teamed with white denim. Or for something a little more fashion forward team them with a denim shirt, such as the Perfect Shirt by Current/Elliott
